QUALITY ADDITIONS

“It would be great if we can bring in three quality additions to the squad,” said Mackay’’.

“I would look to strengthen all three departments in terms of a defender, a midfielder and an attacking player. I will talk to my chairman about January who will then discuss it with his board of directors and our owner and I will take my lead from them,”

“It’s up to them then what financially they want to spend in January. I’ve got my lists of players, whether they be permanent targets or loans for various positions. We’ve got to try and strengthen again.

Those were some of the last words that Mackay said before being sacked in December as he came under heavy criticism from the owner of Cardiff City Vincent Tan who disliked the signings, transfer budgets, results and style of play that Mackay implemented on Cardiff and ultimately led to his departure from the club.

And now the man in charge of Cardiff City is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was left with the unfinished business that Mackay was unable to complete. Malky Mackay desired to sign a player for each of the areas that the squad was suffering from as it included a midfielder, defender and forward.

Ole Gunnar’s 1st signing in charge of Cardiff City was the 23 years old midfielder Magnus Wolff Eikrem who has already worked together with Gunnar back in Molde as they claimed the Norwegian league title in 2011.

“I’ve known Magnus for many years, having worked with him at Manchester United and then signing him for Molde. While I was there I had to sell him as he was our best player – and now I feel lucky to get to sign him again for Cardiff City for a reasonable price.

“I see this as money well spent. He’s a playmaker, a quarterback if you will, someone who likes to get on the ball and can see a pass. He’s technically very good, including set pieces and has great vision’’. Said Ole Gunnar.

Gunnar still a few more signings left to do if he wants to continue with the plan that Mackay originally had before being sacked and considering the fact that this is the 1st season that Cardiff City has experienced in the Premier League, the wise option would be to add a few more players that can maintain the club out of the relegation zone and remain fighting in the top league of England.

FEW GOALS EXPECTED

After several weeks without a victory, Chelsea finally managed to get three points from the home match against Fulham. Oscar and John obi Mikel scored a Chelsea in the 2-0 win over their local rivals, which helped the club move to the top of the table.

Speaking after the match, manager José Mourinho took a swipe at his critics by saying that all he can see at the moment is that Chelsea are top of the table. There has been talk of crisis before the start of the match, but he thinks that the pundits are quick to come to judgements. However, he cannot do the same way because he has more responsibilities.
