Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes that Everton forward Romelu Lukaku should not consider joining Manchester United at this point in time since he will start to receive little in return.
Wright considers United as a club in turmoil, as they are believed to be on the verge of changing managers once again. The club enjoyed a long period of stability under Sir Alex Ferguson. However, his replacement David Moyes lasted less than a year and there are already growing rumours about Van Gaal leaving the club at the end of the season irrespective of the results.
United have joined the list of admirers for Lukaku, who has been amongst the top scorers in the Premier League this season. It is a remarkable transformation from the former Chelsea forward, who struggled to make impact last season. Lukaku has already scored 19 goals in 25 appearances for the blues. It is not surprising that United are showing interest since they are in the market for a top striker. The sale of Javier Hernandez and the other strikers has left United little short of quality up front. Only Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial are the recognised top strikers in the United squad.Wright, though, believes that Lukaku can progress if he continues at Everton for another few years.
“Manchester United would not be attractive to him at the moment because of the turmoil they are in.Because he would have to go there with a massive price tag on him and he’ll have to do it and whether he can do that is a different story, with the pressure on Manchester United. There is too much pressure there when they are like this, there is too much pressure when they aren’t winning. With the pressure they are under for not winning, they are not attractive,” said Wright.
